Copyright and the Digital Public Domain (New eBooks available at the UNT Dallas Library)

Copyright is not merely a matter of law but also culture and economics. Who should have access to information and what rewards should those who create content expect when sharing information? As digital technologies supplant traditional methods of transmitting information, old laws begin to seem overly restrictive and limit accessibility.

Two new eBooks Privilege and Property (2010) and The Digital Public Domain (2012) deal with the issues of protection of content creators rights and the needs of the public to have access to information.

The books are available now for immediate access by clicking the following links.

1.       Privilege and Property: Essays on the History of Copyright

2.       The Digital Public Domain: Foundations for an Open Culture
